The engineering teacher at Birdville Independent School District, outside of Fort Worth, inspired to teach the little guy to dance with him. On the phone was his sister and brother-in-law and at their urging, he taped the lesson.
The results are hilarious. Take a look:
You might thought he have received some great news that made him made such moves, but nope!
Douglas is not known among his friends as a dancer. He calls himself a ‘closet dancer’ and sticks mostly to two-stepping. He posted the video to Facebook expecting it to make a few of his friends laugh, instead his phone has been ringing off the hook with news stations wanting to talk to him about the video.
“It’s been crazy,” he said. “I never expected this.”
It took him three times to get the video just right. The first time Dantyn wouldn’t stop looking at his feet. The second time his phone died. The third time was the charm. He posted it and when he woke up in the morning, it had taken off.
In a week, it’s been shared almost 800 times with over 90,000 views. He’s taking the extra attention in stride.
“It doesn’t bother me,” he said. “I guess it’s a good thing it happened in the summer because I have a lot of free time. It would be different if I was at work.”
Douglas, a single dad, plans on spending his Father’s Day with his own dad. They’ll go golfing while his mom watches the little guy. He’s got just one piece of advice for other dads:
“Being a first-time father I hear a lot of people talking about, ‘Oh, you’re such a good dad. You spend a lot of time with your son.’ But for me it’s normal,” he said. “All I can say to other dads is just cherish the moment.”
